With the likes of former players Neal Martin watching on at the Sky Dome, the Blaze were ahead after 4.30 when Jon Weaver slammed home a powerplay goal, assisted by Greg Chambers and Luke Fulghum.
Then it was the turn of Luke Fughum to shine with a hat-trick. His first goal came on 4.52 when he netted assisted by Mattias Soderstrom and Brian Lee.
On 7.15, he found the net again, this time assisted by Derek Campbell and Dan Carlson before completing his hat-trick with a short handed, unassisted goal five minutes into the second period.
A fifth goal for the Blaze came on 28.40 when Dan Carlson fired home another short handed goal.
Hull pulled one back before the end of the second through Adam Knight on 38.04 but the five goal margin was restored, two and a half minutes into the third period thanks to Derek Campbell scoring, assisted by Dan Carlson and Brian Lee.
On Saturday, the Blaze travel to Edinburgh Capitals before facing Nottingham Panthers at thr Sky Dome next Sunday.
