Coventry Bees rider Chris Harris finished second in the Italian Speedway Grand Prix tonight.

In Terenzano, Harris won Heat 2, and followed this up with a second in Heat 7 and wins in Heats 12 & 13.

He was beaten into third place by Tomasz Gollob and Hans Anderson in Heat 18 but with twelve points, his place in the semi-final was long assured.

Going in the second semi-final, Harris was up against Greg Hancock, Hans Anderson and Jaroslaw Hampel. A good ride saw him finish second behind Hancock and take his place in the final with Gollob, Hancock and Nikki Pedersen.

However, this was to be the night that Tomasz Gollob would be crowned World Champion and although Harris put in a spirited ride to finish second, the Pole took the race, the Grand Prix and the World Championship which has one round to go in Bydgoszcz on October 9th.

Chris Harris has 94 points in the Championship and is in seventh place. He will be back at Brandon on Monday for the Bees Elite League Final 1st leg against Poole. The meeting is live on Sky Sports.

The Bees Knock Out Cup meeting against Wolves which was abandoned on Thursday night will be re-run on Thursday September 30th.
