Tonight at the Smedstadion in Eskilstuna, Sweden the 3rd Speedway GP of the 2007 series took place with Coventry Bees riders Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris again taking part as permanent riders in the 2007 GP series.
Both carried high hopes for the meeting with Chris 'Bomber' Harris having secured a 3rd place podium finish at the previous GP 2 weeks ago.
Scott started off well with a 2nd place in his first ride but then things went awry with 3 consecutive last finishes effectively put him out of contention for the semi finals, where it seems an 8 point total from each riders 5 rides is the minimum target to qualify.
For the second GP in a row Bomber had a much better time of it with a 2 seconds and 2 thirds in his first 4 heats leaving him having to get a first or second finish in his final ride to qualify. He duly got the second place needed and went through to the semi-final finishign 3rd behind eventual GP winner Leigh Adams.
Bomber now sits 5th in the overall standings with a total of 31 points to date, 27 behind the current GP series leader Dane Nicki Pedersen on 58 points. Scott lies 14th with 14 points, but with 8 GP's still to run there are many opportunities for both riders to move up the leader board.
The next GP is in 2 weeks time on June 9th at the Parken Stadium, Copenhagen Denmark.
