Jets Head To Bristol Semi

The Coventry Jets took a break from preparing for the playoffs recently as they helped Mercia film a trailer for the new JD Show. JD's brand new morning show kicked off at 6am on Monday the 6th of September and runs until 10am every weekday morning. The bubbly presenter is no stranger to the Jets as he served as a stadium announcer for them in 2005 at the Butts Park Arena.

As well as the Jets, JD has also been announcer for Coventry City FC and the Coventry Blaze ice hockey team, both of whom also appear in the video. During the Jets' sequence JD is chased by Si Mepstead, Rich Carey, Anthony Nip, Wayne Gumbs and Roman Von Der Goltz before being crumpled in a heap. JD goes on to be seen in various places throughout Coventry and Warwickshire before arriving at the Mercia studios in Hertford Place.

Jets' General Manager Gerry McManus was delighted when Mercia invited the Jets to get involved. "Mercia have been a great supporter to us over the years" stated McManus, "They've helped us with ticket giveaways and always been willing to promote our games. Being asked to be part of this promo shows that we're on the map locally and in the minds of our fanbase. Working with Mercia is a tremendous boost for us as we go in search of another National Championship."

McManus' attention has now turned to Sunday's semi-final trip to face the Bristol Aztecs. Filton WISE will play host to what has become an annual battle as the foes meet for the fourth straight year to play for a place in the National Championship game. Having won the previous three playoff matches the Jets will go into this game as underdogs for the first time having lost both regular season games to the Aztecs.

Coventry go into the game without several of their rookies, missing Mark Wade, Kevin Flynn, Chris Shorey and Shaun Rice. Whilst Wade and Shorey hope to participate in the final, should the Jets reach it, Rice and Flynn know their seasons are over. Apart from the four youngsters McManus' side have a clean bill of health and know they'll need every one of those bodies for what's sure to be a bruising encounter.
