Coventry Jets troubled season continued as the embattled Premiership
side were forced to cancel the fixture against the London Warriors.
The cancellation was forced to by the ever growing number of players
on the injured list. Two more added to the list following the home
game against Bristol Aztecs last Saturday.
Head Coach Gerry McManus, from his playing days onwards, has always had a never say die attitude but in the end even he was forced to face the reality of the current situation at the club.
He said "It was a decision I really didn’t want to have to make, competitors live to compete and all the still fit players wanted the game to go ahead. But with such a small squad every player would have to play both offence and defence which is not ideal and potentially dangerous. So in the health interests of my players I really had no option other than to cancel this match. Although the Warriors are disappointed at the cancellation they fully understand and support my decision, as did the clubs management."
The Jets now have a brief respite to try and get injured players back
onto the team, their next match is at home against the London Warriors on August 6th followed by the visit of the reigning National Champions the London Blitz on the 13th. Both these matches will take place at Pinley RFC in Wyken Croft and admission is free.
