After the euphoria of November's impressive win in France, it's back to work for the GB Lions. The 14-6 come from behind victory over their hosts has put the Lions on track as they prepare for the 2010 European Championships. 2009's first training session for the squad takes place on January 24th at Loughborough University and the Coventry Cassidy Jets will have no less than 14 representatives on the day.
The Jets explosive offense provides 4 holdovers from last months game in Amiens. Wide receivers Joe Black, Mark Cohen, James Hossack and Jeremy Simms all return and will be joined by running backs Kofi Campbell and, emerging star, Shadrach McCook. Receiving a first camp invitation are the young offensive line trio of Pete Downes, Adam O'Reilly and Sam Owen, all of whom were team-mates for Warwick University before stepping up to play for the Jets.
On the defensive side of the ball standout corner and Coventrian Dom Olney will be joined by linebackers Alistair Bailey and Andrew McKenzie. Defensive end Andrew Steadman will also be looking to make an impact after being unable to travel to France. Finally, rookie kicking sensation and Britbowl XXII match winner Fraser Houston will looking to boot his way to Germany after an impressive rookie season with the Jets.
