Coventry University student Katrina Wooten finished a creditable fifth place at this morning's Adidas Women's 5K Challenge at a wet Hyde Park, West Kensington, London.
The 23-year-old, who is currently studying Italian and National Relations, battled her way through the wet and slippery circuit to clock 16mins 11 secs.
Ethiopia's Olympic 5000m bronze medallist Meseret Defar who has vowed to break Paula Radcliffe's world record of 14.51 in next year's event, easily retained her title in 15.01mins, 30 seconds ahead of world junior 10,000m record holder from Kenya Linet Masai while Brit Jo Pavey came third in 15.32.
Play School fame Floella Benjamin, pop star Alesha Dixon, former Olympic javelin champion Fatima Whitebread and the one and only Christopher Biggins joined 15,000 women in this annual event.
