At last nights Latvian speedway GP Bees riders Hans Andersen and Chris Harris, along with last years captain Scott Nicholls, took to the track looking to achieve an overall top 8 finish to secure an automatic GP berth for next season.
Current championship leader Nicki Pedersen was also aiming to hold station against his nearest challenger Jason Crump and it was both these riders, along with former Bee Greg Hancock and Polish number 1 Tomasz Gollob who contested the final.
Of the Bees interest both Scott and Hans scored 7 points on the night, just shy of the usual 8 points target to progress through to the semi-finals.
Chris went into his final qualifying race on 5 points and only a win would give him the chance to progress, and in thrilling race win he did. Sadly though he had last choice of gates for the 1st of the semi-finals and off the unfavoured outside gate his chances went at the 1st corner. Typical of Chris though for he didn't give up and worked hard to take 3rd place and what might be a valuable extra point on the night.
Following this GP the latest standings are:
1. Nicki Pedersen 134
2. Jason Crump 118
3. Greg Hancock 102
4. Tomasz Gollob 98
5. Hans Andersen 91
10. Scott Nicholls 52
12. Chris Harris 49
