Lord Mayor Celebrates Coventry Sport

Tonight at the historic St Mary's Guildhall in Coventry, the Right Worshipful Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Coventry - Jack and Jill Harrison celebrated the people involved in the sporting teams of Coventry with a civic dinner.

This was the seventh dinner held by the Lord Mayor and his wife, who have attended a vast number of events and functions around the city in their year of office, to thank the people of Coventry for their efforts and achievements.

It was attended by Joe Elliott and David Busst representing Coventry City FC, Some City supporters from the Vice Presidents Club, Coventry Sphinx FC, Massey Ferguson FC and Coventry Copsewood as well as Athletics including swimming and orienteering clubs, Rugby, Rugby Referees, Cricket, Swimming, Gaelic Football, Hockey, Basketball and Golf clubs from within the city.

An excellent evening which saw the menu chosen by the Lord Mayor and with entertainment from the City Of Coventry Male Voice Choir, was also a fundraiser for the Lord Mayor's three charities as part of the Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal, which are Children In Care, the Neo-Natal Unit at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire and the Westfield Health British Transplant Games. This year, over £87,000 has so far been raised quadrupling what has been raised by other Lord Mayor's in the past.
