Coventry born runner and City supporter Marlon Devonish has had his funding withdrawn.
Devonish who has won over twenty medals including Olympic Gold, along with Paula Radcliffe, fellow marathon runner Mara Yamauchi, sprinter Mark Lewis-Francis, European 400m hurdles champion Rhys Williams, former European 800m silver medallist Michael Rimmer, Commonwealth 1500m bronze medallist Steph Twell, former world 400m silver medallist Nicola Sanders and 800m runner Marilyn Okoro, have all had their funding of up to £27k per year withdrawn or cut as they are no longer deemed by UK Athletics has being a medalist in Brazil 2016 or in the top eight at the World Championships.
Devonish, who has offered his services to Coventry City FC and Coventry City Ladies FC to help the players with their fitness, tweeted: "All this fuss about funding. This year was the first time I didn't make the team since 1997! Didn't expect to be funded. #noshockreally "
