In the local election today, Coventry City Council has stayed Conservative but only thanks to the casting vote of the Lord Mayor.
Eighteen seats were up for election and in the ward where the Ricoh Arena is situated, Labour regained control of the Foleshill Ward from the Conservatives.
The only real shock was Lord Mayor Dave Batten losing his seat and the BNP finishing second in the Woodlands Ward. In the end, there was no overall control but the Conservatives have the administration duties for the next two years.
Conservatives have 27 seats, Labour 24, SALT 2 Lib Dem 1
Nuneaton and Bedworth Council changed after 34 years from Labour to Conservative.
