Chris Lever fired the Merseyside team ahead in the 19th minute after Ben Ford had been adjudged to have handled and five minutes later, it was two when Simon Grand volleyed in.
Chris Almond hit a third for Southport in the 68th minute before Adam Walker scored a consolation goal in the 75th minute with a close range shot for the 132 Nuneaton supporters in a crowd of 1,302.

In a Southern League Premier Division game, Bedworth United made a long trip back for Weymouth more miserable with a 2-0 victory.
Wesley opened the scoring in the 40th minute and three minutes into the second half, Mitch Piggon hit a second to give the Greenbacks a deserved win.

Rugby Town won 2-1 at Beaconsfield SYCOB in a Southern League Central Division game, Goals from Banks (25) and Koriya (58) had given Rugby the lead before Lee scored a consolation in the 65th minute.

Stratford Town stay top of the Midland Alliance table with a 4-1 victory over Ellesmere Rangers. Harry Donaghey opened the scoring in the 18th minute for Stratford who had their manager Morton Titterton resign this week.
Chris Lait added a second in the 54th minute and although Dale Williams pulled one back in the 63rd minute, Anthony Robinson scored in the 66th and 88th minute to complete a good win.
