Ian Neale has said that he will step down as Chairman of Nuneaton Town so that new investment can come in with the aim of getting the Warwickshire club into the Football League.

"I have personally managed the club, hands on since 2008” Neale said to Daniel Smith of the Coventry Telegraph.

“At the time I did say I did not know how long I would be here, and that if I felt I couldn’t take the club any further then it would be time for me to pass the baton.

“ I believe that to continue progressing, and certainly to reach Football League 2, the club needs to make the transition from part-time to full-time and to continue upgrading Liberty Way to a standard which meets the clubs aspirations, and for that it needs some serious investment .

“Now in its 125th year our Football team has a bright future to look forward to. I can confirm I am in talks with a number of interested parties to secure the long-term future of not just the club but also in the interests of the town.

“This is without doubt a rare and fantastic opportunity to take the reins of a club with solid foundations and structure both on and off the field and one which is on and off the field, and one at the cusp of aspiring to the Football League as and when the right party comes along.”
