Greg Owen hit a hat-trick on his 200th appearance for Coventry Blaze to earn them a 4-3 win at Edinburgh Capitals tonight.
In Edinburgh tonight, the Capitals took a two goal lead thanks Mark Garside netting on 5.58 and on 14.18, Jeff Hutchins hit a second with a short handed goal.
Paul Thompson's side who have struggled against Edinburgh this season, came back through Greg Owen on 16.18 and seven minutes into the second period, Owen scored again to tie the match.
Both sides kept it tight until the third period when Luke Fulghum hit his 40th goal of the season when he fired Coventry 3-2 up on 56.14.
It looked like the poinrts would be coming back to England but with thirty seconds remaining, Simon Lambert netted to send the match into overtime.
The Blaze, only needed 78 seconds of over-time to ensure that they would get the victory when Greg Owen lashed home to give the Blaze a 4-3 victory.
Sunday night at the Sky Dome sees a massive game. Coventry take on Nottingham Panthers who beat Hull Stingrays 9-1. Coventry are three points ahead of Nottingham after the victory at Edinburgh going into the game which now is standing room only.
