Penalties Win For Coventry Blaze

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team beat Belfast Giants on penalties in an Elite League match.

Against the Elite League leaders at the Sky Dome in Coventry, Paul Thomson's team got off to a great start, when Matic Kralj opened the scoring on 2.28, assisted by Guthrie and McLean.

Then it was the same combination which put Coventry further in front on 4.05 when Kralj found the net.

Benoit Doucet scored an unassisted goal for Belfast on 7.49 but before the end of the first, the Blaze had restored their two goal margin when Robert Farmer netted on 13.24, assisted by Kralj and Phillips.

It stayed at 3-1 to the Blaze until 37.31 when Darryl Lloyd hit a second for Belfast with a short handed goal .

Into the final period and twenty seven seconds in and Belfast drew level thanks to Mark Garside findind the net for another short hand goal.

Over-time did not produce a goal and the match went to penalties and the Blaze won to record a 4-3 victory.
