Both the Bees riders Chris 'Bomber' Harris and Scott Nicholls began their nights with very tough rides, especially Scott who had to contend with reigning champion Jason Crump and current championship leader Nicki Pedersen. Alas both our boys ran lasts in their intitial rides.
After this Bomber picked up 2 successive second places whilst Scotts 2nd ride saw him again at the back with what looked like engine problems, whilst a 2nd place in his 3rd ride gace some hope that the magic 8 points level could be reached to have a shot at the semi-finals.
Alas this wasn't to be for either of the Bees riders as Scott ran a last in his 4th race, whilst Bombers 3rd place meant he needed a win in his last race. Not an easy ask with Nicki Pedersen and Bees asset Andreas Jonsson in the heat and so it proved, Bomber ran a last and although there was to be no semi-final berth he had once again achieved his target of scoring 5 points per GP.
Elsewhere in the meeting heat 8 produced a horrific looking first bend crash which saw the exclusion of Dane Hans Andersen who, in a congested 1st corner, clipped the inside curve and reared up, spearing across the track collecting Nicki Pedersen and Pole Jarek Hampel into a heavy hit on the air fence. Thankfully all were able to walk away and take their part in the remainder of the meeting. (check out http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gpQOmDtL-k8)
The Polish GP winner was pre-meeting favourite Tomasz Gollob ahead of Pole Krzysztof Kasperzak in 2nd, Nicki Pedersen in 3rd and Andreas Jonsson.
