In tonights Elite League match at Brandon, screened live on Sky Sports, the Swindon Robins ran out the winners taking the bonus point along with the first away win at Brandon this season.
The match was always close with the biggest gap between the teams only ever being 6 points apart, and both sides enjoyed the match lead at some point.
The pivotal moment in the match came in heat 14 when Bees reserve Martin smolinski had battled through to 3rd place which would've given the Bees a 4 point lead going into the final heat. However luck was not on his side as entering the final corners of the race his chain snapped, turning the 4-2 into a drawn 3-3 heat.
This meant that the Bees were 2 points up going into the final race with Scott Nicholls and Rory Schlein for the Bees against Swindon captain Leigh Adams and their wonder Polish reserve rider Tomasz Chrzanowski, who had an unbeleveable night and was nothing other than superb.
Just when it mattered the Bees starts let them down, the Robins duo hit the front and despite some determined riding by Scott the 5-1 heat victory won the match for the Robins 44-46.
The whole meeting carried some excellent racing and incidents to provide a good advert for the sport, and the 'BOGOF' admission offer was very effective in providing a more than decent sized crowd to the stadium too.
The Bees now enjoy a weeks break before their next match, at home against Eastbourne next monday. Before then it is the Swedish Grand Prix on saturday night when hopefully Scott & Chris will enjoy a successful night.
