Warwickshire pulled off a dramatic last ball victory to beat Glamorgan Dragons at Edgbaston.
In the second of eight Midlands,West and Wales group Twenty20 matches, The Bears batted first. Alex Loudon was out for nine in the first over. Jon Trott then added 44 with Darren Maddy chipping in with 28 before Jim Troughton was out for seven.
Tim Groenewald (41) and Tim Ambrose steadied the ship to see Warwicks with a modified total of 173-5 from their twenty overs after it was proved by photographic evidence that a six should have been awarded instead of a four.
Glamorgan Dragons, whose game on Friday was rained off, lost Peng for 16 and Maynard for 11 as they knocked up fifty off 43 balls.
In these sort of matches, tight bowling is required and Neil Carter (3-31),Paul Harris and Heath Streak of the seven bowlers used, helped to push the required run rate close to thirteen an over.
Unfortunately, the visitors took this as their cue to get back into the match with a string of boundaries.
Back came the Bears, Darren Maddy, who was the top catcher in the Twenty20 cricket last season then took a superb catch to see off Damien Wright to liven things up with five overs to go and two balls later opening batsman Grant (45) went with Glamorgan needing 57 runs in 4.4 overs.
Mark Wallace thumped two sixes in the penultimate over to leave a total of seventeen runs from the final over.
The first ball was a four off the bowling of Man Of The Match Heath Streak, the second saw two runs. Paul Harris dropped the third to allow two runs,Alex Loudon caught Wallace leaving nine off the last two balls.
