Elite League team speedway stepped to one side tonight for the staging of the 2nd round of this years speedway GP series at Lezsno Poland, with a capcity crowd cheering on Polish number 1 rider Tomasz gollob who was the round 1 winner.
Both Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris were hoping for better points returns in this roundm but sadly on the nght Scott could only muster 2 points from his 5 rides with Chris managing 6 from his. Chris needed a minimum of 2 points in his final qualifying ride but up against Leigh Adams thomasz Gollon abd Greg Hancock the task just proved to be too much despite the huge effort put in.
There was a controversial moment in the 2nd semi-final where on the last corner Jason Crumpwas adjudged to have caused current world champion Nicki Pedersen to fall, despite expert opionion in the Sky TV studio suggesting otherwise.
The final line-up was Pole Jarek Hampel, Aussie Leigh Adams, Dane Nicki Pedersen and American Greg Hancock. An excellent start saw Leigh Adams take an early lead which he never relinquished to headhome Hancock from Pedersen.
The current standings after 2 rounds is as follows:
1. Nicki Pedersen - 33 points
2. Tomasz Gollob - 31 points
