Sphinx Suffer Penalties Agony

Coventry Sphinx are out of the FA Cup after losing on penalties tonight against Teversal.

Paul Charnley's side were a goal down after only 31 seconds to a Michael Clarke goal. Clarke then added a second thirty minutes later.

In front of a decent sized gate,Sphinx kept pressing and tied the match when Jerome Murdock netted on the hour mark and four minutes later, Wayne Pulford who scored an equaliser in the first game on Saturday, drew Sphinx level.

Extra time could not seperate the two sides and it was the Nottinghamshire club who triumphed 6-5 on penalties.

Elsewhere,whilst a good number of City supporters were at Wembley to watch England lose 2-1 to Germany, Robbie Keane scored twice for the Republic Of Ireland in a 4-0 win over Denmark. Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland all won.

Locally,a late Cutler goals earned Coventry Copsewood a 1-1 draw at Feckenham whilst Nuneaton Griff were beaten 3-2 at home by Loughborough for whom Edmans hit a first half hat trick in eleven minutes.
