Coventry Sphinx youth team beat Rugby Town 3-2 tonight at Sphinx Drive in a Midland Floodlit League Eastern Division fixture.
In front of a good crowd at Sphinx Drive, the game had only been going for less than four minutes when the floodlights went out due to a power failure in nearby Bulls Head Lane.
After a thirty four minute stoppage, Sphinx went ahead in the 35th minute thanks to a looping header from Michael Wallace. Six minutes later, Declan Price added a second for John Woodward's side when he turned to drive low into the net.
Two minutes into the second half and a Matt Arnold cross set up a free kick for Jack Allen to score.
Both sides had chances but in the 66th minute, Rugby drew level thanks to a Jamie Williams header.
Back came Sphinx and the ball fell for top scorer Gianni Dainty to score with a superb strike from the outside of his left boot and give Sphinx the victory.
