Coventry Sphinx Youth progressed to the second round of the Midland Floodlit Youth League Cup with a 3-1 win at Bishops Cleeve.
Ricky Hansly almost put John Woodward's side ahead in the eighth minute when his shot from just inside the area, crashed off the stantion.
Sphinx battled hard and had their reward,two minutes before the break when a Dainty cross from the left fell for Michael Wallace to lash into the net.
In the 72nd minute,Dan Fletcher equalised but five minutes later,Sphinx restored their lead when a Gary Mead cross was met by Gianni Dainty. The striker picked his spot to drive low past the keeper to become Sphinx Youth's top scorer.
In stoppage time, Wallace chased down the left and centred. The home keeper got a hand to it but could only push it into the path of Gary Mead to ram home.
