Summer Of Change For Coventry City Ladies

It's been a summer of change for Coventry City Ladies FC, with the addition of a number of new signings and the introduction of several coaching staff followed by a tough pre-season regime, all of which has prepared the side perfectly for the start of the 2010/11 season.

After gaining promotion from the Midland Combination League in style last season, Coventry City Ladies' next challenge kicks-off on Sunday 22nd August away at Manchester City.

First Team coach Paul Cudby is delighted with the response he has received from his squad after a number of changes this summer and he is confident that his side has the perfect mixture of youth and experience to cement a place in the Premier League Northern Division.

"We started the reserve team again and we have added more coaches to the structure, which has meant a lot of change and adjustment, but this was to be expected. I'm really pleased with how everyone has responded to these changes though and we're moving forward quicker than I thought we would, which is credit to everyone."

He added, "Our first priority is to survive at the higher level first and foremost. It's a very tough and unforgiving league so hopefully we can make a decent start. We've added several new faces, with a lot of experience too, and I think it will be key to see how the new players and existing players all interact, learn from each other and push each other on too."

Recent pre-season results include a respectable 7-4 defeat away at Liverpool and a much deserved 1-1 draw at home to Brighton, two friendly's which tested the teams ability against a stronger opposition and club captain Natasha Lynch was quick to praise the coaching staff for selecting these type of matches.

She said, "Pre -season has been very tough but rewarding would like to thank the efforts of all the coaching staff who have worked hard to get us prepared for the up and coming season. The fixtures this pre- season have been tough and challenging, but they have been great preparation for the up and coming season and as a team we are also looking a lot fitter and stronger.

Team spirit in the camp at the moment is good with the new additions just starting to settle in. If we reach the high level of team spirit we did last season then this squad will achieve great things, it is now just a case of everyone interacting with one another and trusting one another on the pitch."
