Home keeper Wareham had to make saves from Saulter and Robson as City dictated the play with Torkildsen fires over from long range.
More saves from Saulter and McKenna followed before Saulter went just wide with keeper beaten.
The City support were expecting a goal from all this pressure and it came when Danni Saulter stole in on Dermody's cross and struck it right footed into bottom corner.
Before the half-time whistle, City went further ahead when Kirsty Robson latches onto Wood's long clearance and picks her spot for the second goal.
Kirsty Robson fired over the bar just before the interval but seconds after the restart, Robson was put through on Wakeham who blocked and she was able to bang home the loose ball.
The Newcastle keeper was having a cracking game and made a fantastic fingertip save to deny a thunderous strike by Jade Formaston with Crissy Torkildsen going inches wide with header from the resulting corner.
Leanne McKenna flicked just wide and another full length diving save by Wareham to deny Saulter but in the next attack, Kirsty Robson completed her hat-trick when Saulter puts her through again, this time Wareham looked to have it covered but Robson's shot squirmed under her diving body and into the net for City's fourth goal.
Paul Cudby went for a triple substitution with Wilcox, Clough and Barber coming on for Durrant Robson and Torkildsen.
Natasha Lynch had a goal disallowed but it was not long before a fifth arrived courtesy of Helen Dermody's cross from the byeline and Danni Saulter's close range header to make it 5-0 to the Sky Blues and a job well done.
