Coventry World Superbikes rider Cal Crutchlow finished third in the second race of today's World Superbikes meeting in Imola.
The rider from Wyken, who moves to MotoGP next season, finished tenth in the first race, some twenty seconds down on winner Spain's Carlos Checa.
In the second race, all the attention was on Max Biaggi and the crowd went wild when Leon Haslam who was the only man who could have caught the Asprilla rider was forced to retire halfway through the race, leaving Biaggi not even needing to finish to be crowned World Champion.
Crutchlow rode a good race to finish third behind winner Carlos Checa and second place Noriyuki Haga, whilst Biaggi came in fifth to pick up the World Champions title.
The final meeting of the season is at Magny Cours in France next Sunday.
