Warwickshire made it three Twenty20 wins out of three win with a victory over Northamptonshire at Edgbaston.
Warwickshire in their third Twenty20 game again batted first. With Jon Trott on international duty,Neil Carter was moved to an opening batsman alongside skipper Darren Maddy.
Carter only made sixteen whilst Maddy became the first Warwickshire player to hit a half century in these twenty overs a side matches when he hit 51 before being stumped by Wessels off the bowling of Brown.
Jim Troughton chipped in with 37 as Warwicks finished on 174-7.
Warwickshire attacked Northants with opening bowler Neil Carter skittling Afzaat for four. Klusener,Sales and Wessels all made twenties as some tight bowling sent the required run rate up to thirteen an over.
Northants did hit some sixes with one from Van Wath landing on the lap of the BBC Coventry & Warwickshire commentary teams. All were ok but a stretcher was required for Scot Dougie Brown who was carried off with an injury to his left knee.
With six balls remaining and four wickets in hand, Northampton needed 22 runs to win. Heath Streak bowled Crook with his first ball and he kept the score down to 161-7 and give Warwickshire a win by twelve runs.
Warwickshire will get one point from the game tomorrow at Worcester which has been postponed due to a flooded pitch at New Road.
Warwicks next match is now on Friday.
