Warwickshire beat Somerset in their first Twenty/20 game of the season.
In an atmosphere similar to a City away game, Warwickshire batted first at Edgbaston and made 161-6 in their twenty overs. Jon Trott celebrated his England call up with 44 whilst Tim Ambrose made 47.
In reply, Somerset Sabres lost opening batsman Jason Langer and Marcus Trescothick pretty cheaply. Led by Darren Maddy, Warwicks kept plugging away taking the valuable wicket of Kieswetter who had made 48.
With three overs left,Somerset needed thirty runs with four wickets left. Two wickets fell due to Heath Streak as Somerset finished on 154-8 to give Warwicks a seven run victory.
On Sunday Warwickshire's second Midlands,West and Wales Twenty20 game is at home to Glamorgan Dragons. The start is at 2.30pm.
Locally, bottom of the Birmingham League table Coventry & North Warwicks are at home tomorrow to West Bromwich Dartmouth whilst Kenilworth Wardens are at home to Kidderminster Victoria. Both matches start at 1pm.
