There are just a few days left to nominate your favourite local sporting stars for a top award.
The sixth annual Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Awards are underway, with the public invited to celebrate local sporting talent by nominating their stars of 2010.
Nominations for a range of categories are being accepted until Monday 2 August, at which point the nominees will be announced and sports fans across Warwickshire and the West Midlands will have a chance to vote for their Team, Sportswoman, Sportsman and Sporting Occasion of the year.
The remaining 10 categories, which are designed to reflect the breadth of sporting achievement across the region, will be decided by a judging panel. Both professional and non-professional athletes are eligible for the awards, affording an opportunity for those local unsung heroes to be recognised by their community.
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony which will be hosted at the state of the art Ricoh Arena in Coventry on Thursday 4th November.
Councillor Abdul Khan, Cabinet Member, Culture, Leisure, Sport and Libraries, said: "It's very important that we continue to recognise and celebrate the sporting talent in our community, and these awards are a great way of recognising the talent we have in the area. I would encourage the community to put their own nominations forward as I'm sure there are lots of wonderful sporting achievements and individuals out there who deserve to be recognised."
The event is being organised by a consortium of West Midlands organisations, including Coventry University, BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, University of Warwick, Coventry and Warwickshire 2012 Partnership, the seven Local Authorities, Coventry PE and School Sport Partnership, and Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sport.

- Sportsman of the Year*
- Lifetime Achievement Award
- Sporting Occasion of the Year*
