Warwickshire County Cricket Club were victorious today in a Friends Provident game at Trent Bridge.
Warwicks,who batted first were 36-3 but with Ian Westwood making 64, Michael Powell 29 and Ant Botha 27, they finished on 173 all out.
It looked an easy target for Nottinghamshire but Jimmy Anyon took three wickets for only six runs in five overs. Neil Carter chipped in with 3-25 and Tahir 2-47 to see Notts all out for 121 in 29.5 overs and a win for Warwickshire by 52 runs.
In the Test match at Lords, thankfully the weather was better than yesterday when only 21 runs were scored. England continued on 89-0 and after they had past the 120 mark,wickets started to fall. Warwickshire duo Ian Bell made only 16 and Tim Ambrose was out for a duck. Michael Vaughan played a Captains Innings and was the last man out for 106 with the score on 319.
Some 42 runs behind, New Zealand batted again and were 40-0 at the close.
Admission for tomorrow's play of which 98 overs must be bowled is £20 for adults and £10 children cash only.
