Warwickshire are staring relegation to Division Two firmly in the face after being skittled out for 106 on the opening day of their final County Championship game.

Without Ian Bell who was advised against playing any domestic cricket by the ECB who own his contract, Chapple,Mahmood and Cork took a steady stream of wickets with only Mike Powell (27) and Ant Botha (27) offering an resistance as Warwicks were all out in 45.2 overs.

Lancashire made the most of their home advantage and were 156-4 at the close.

Second from bottom Kent started well at Hampshire making 342-5 on the opening day and picking up batting points that Warwicks missed out on.
