Warwickshire were beaten in Pro 40 action today against Kent Spitfires at Edgbaston.
Kent, who beat Warwicks in the Twenty/20 cup, batted first. Key made 80, Van Jaarsveld 49 and Walker 43 in a score of 228-8. Neil Carter,Ian Salisbury and Darren Maddy both took two wickets each.
In reply, Warwicks lost Neil Carter (11 from 11 balls) with the score on 16. Jim Troughton was next to go with the score on 42-2.
Darren Maddy and Jim Trott took the score on to 100 before Maddy was out for 28. Tony Frost was out without scoring and Coventrian Liam Parker was out for two.
With fifteen overs left, Warwicks were 121-5 and five overs later, Trott had passed the fifty mark but Ant Botha had been caught by Jones for eight and Warwicks were on 134-6.
The required run rate kept creeping up. Tim Gronevald hit a quick fire 33 with Salisbury and Wilkes going cheap. Jon Trott finished on 91 not out be Warwicks could only make 206 and went down to a 22 run defeat.
