COALVILLE TOWN 2-3 WHITLEY BAY BY KEV MONKS

Coalville Town ran Whitley Bay all the way but could not stop the Geordie side winning their fourth FA Vase Final.

The Midland Alliance side named two former Coventry Sphinx players in Callum Woodward and Jerome Murdock in their starting line up and in front of a crowd of 8778, the Owen Street side started the better.

However, Whitley Bay went ahead in the 26th minute when a ball from the right was not cut out and Paul Chow was able to score from six yards.

Coalville had a goal ruled out but levelled in the 56th minute thanks to Matt Moore heading home a Carney cross.

There was parity only for four minutes as an attack down the right was met by a flick header by Lee Kerr to put Bay back in front.

Matt Moore sent a downwards header onto the bar before Burke denied Murdock with a stunning save. With eleven minutes left, Coalville pressed and a corner was eventually played back for Adam Goodby to equalise again.

Coalville looked for a third but a break down the left and a foul by Brown gave Bay an 85th minute free kick. Kerr thumped the twenty yarder against the bar. The ball dropped down and with the Coalville keeper static on his line, Paul Chow headed in for the winner.
