The Coventry Bees tonight returned to Ipswich where they were victorious earlier in the season, however recent fortunes had changed in that it was now the Bees tracking a below strength side compared to Ipswich earlier in the season.
The Bees reserve Jordan Frampton was riding for his Premier League team so his place was taken by guest Klaus Jacobsen, with rider replacement still being used to cover the absence of Olly Allen.
The meeting began with Gran Prix rider Jareck Hampel leading home Chris Harris in a Witches 4-2 but the Bees reserve pairing gated well in heat 2 to gain maximum points. The 2 point lead didn't last long however with the Witches pairing in heat 3 leading the way from the start despite the efforts of Edward Kennett.
A drawn heat 4 was followed by an eventful heat 5 where Chris Harris fell, whilst in second place, as he tried to mount a challenge to take the lead. Chris was excluded as he caused the race to be stopped and the Witches took full advantage to open up a 6 point lead on the night.
A drawn heat 6 led into a good heat 7 for the Bees where Edward Kennett and Filip Sitera scored a tapes to flag heat maximum to bring the deficit back to 2 points.
With drawn heats surrounding trading of 4-2 heat wins the scoreline on the night stood at 41-37 to Ipswich after heat 13, leaving the Bees right in the match.
The effort from both teams to win the meeting was shown in heat 14 where Edward Kennett passing, and being re-passed by Ipswich's Daniel King before Edward got the better of him and managed a late pass of the other Ipswich rider Dawid Stachyra to draw the heat and put the match into a last heat decider, albeit with the Bees 4 points down and needing a 5-1 to gain the draw.
Sadly Chris Harris and Rory Schlein could not get ahead of Hampel and the resulting 4-2 gave the overall match score of Ipswich 48 Coventry 42.
