Barnsley railway station is about a ten minute walk away. This station is served by trains running between Sheffield & Leeds.
From the train station turn left away from the town centre and head towards the bridge that the dual-carriageway runs over. Go under the bridge and turn left up the slip road and then take the first road on the right and head towards the Metro Dome leisure complex at the top of the hill. Oakwell is now clearly visible.
If you are travelling by train from Coventry. This will save you money.
If you walk up to the ticket office at Cov and say "A day return to Barnsley" you will be charge £40.70 However, ask for the following:
"Coventry to Derby Return" £13.20. "Derby to Sheffield Return" £8.20. "Sheffield to Barnsley Return" £3.90 Will cost you £25.90
The route is the same, changes at Birmingham and Sheffield.

The last game saw a 1-1 draw at the Ricoh Arena on April 21st.
In the corresponding fixture last season, City won 2-1 at Oakwell. Freddie Eastwood opened the scoring with Brian Howard equalising. Julian Gray hit the winner whilst the City fans got Iain Hume sent off.

MATCH OFFICIALS
The currently appointed referee for Coventry City's Championship fixture at Barnsley on Saturday is Steve Tanner.
Mr Tanner is from Somerset and this will be his first game of the season.
He was in charge of City's 0-0 draw at Swansea, the 2-2 FA Cup tie at Blackburn and the 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest last season.
Assistants are Dave Bryan (Lincolnshire) & Bobby Madley from West Yorkshire The Fourth Official is Eddie Ilderton from Tyne & Wear.
