Coventry City U23's drew 0-0 with Crewe this afternoon in a game they should have easily won.

Jason Farndon and Andy Whing fielded a strong side with Jordan Willis having a run out and a trialist who played in midfield in a game watched by a reasonable crowd and Mark Robins.

City were first to attack with a Kyle FInn shot pushed away for a corner.

The Trialist  believed to be Zain Westbrook from Brentford, playing in midfield looked lively helping City win another corner in the tenth minute which was followed by Barratt winning one with a blocked shot six minutes later.

That led to another corner which Barrett took and Jordan Willis headed over.

Barratt had a volley saved. Ponticelli followed up and Richards in the Crewe goal saved well.

Beavon then headed over following good work by the trialist who then set up Barratt for a 25th minute shot which Richards beat away for a corner.

Crewe had a corner in the 27th minute which was easily cleared and a great ball from Maycock gave City the first of four corners after thirty minutes left of play.

City had another corner in the 35th minute which led to a throw that was eventually volleyed over by the trialist, who looked very comfortable in midfield.

Barratt then fired wide and another corner came to nothing.

Two minutes into the second half and Ponticelli drove wide with the trialist then feeding Beavon for the first of two corners, the second was headed wide by Jordan Willis.

Finn shot at Richards and Addai saved before City won a 63rd minute corner

A Crewe header then sailed past the post and another City corner came to nothing.

Ponticelli fired well wide before Farndon went for a triple change with fourteen minutes left, taking off Jordan Willis, Kyle Finn and Stuart Beavon.

The Trialist won a corner with seven minutes to go and then played in Barratt who had a shot saved for a corner which was headed over.

Barratt and Ponticelli both had chances late on but this dour game ended with no goals.
