Coventry City Academy coach Jason Farndon has said that last night's 8-2 defeat at Manchester City was a difficult night.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Farndon said: “It was a difficult night and we’re really disappointed with the first half, particularly the first 20 minutes when we gave them too much respect and never really stuck to the principles that we know,
“But let’s make no bones about it, everyone’s an international apart from the goalkeeper and the squad is worth £30million so they should be technically gifted. They pluck them from all around the world and we pluck them from the Midlands.
“Having said that, we should have given a better account of ourselves and I said to the boys that if you score two goals away at Man City you expect a better result than 8-2.
“If we’d have played at our maximum the game would have been tough, regardless, and if we’d have played absolutely fantastic we’d probably still have lost if I am being brutally honest because they’re at that level, and that’s the level some of these need to get to.
“It’s great to come and pitch ourselves against a Category One side and see how the Premier League is. But we’ve had a good run in the Cup and we had 13 fit players tonight, so we run off a small group.
“I’m very proud of how they are progressing and we try not to get too high in victory and too low in defeat.”
