Coventry City Reserves beat Leicester City 1-0 on a friendly this afternoon.
Frankie Bunn named a side, which included youngsters Jordan Clarke, who scored for the U18's on Saturday against Southampton and Ashley Cain as well as the like of Andy Marshall,Marcus Hall and Kevin Thornton.
The first half of this match at Leicester's training ground, played on a cloudy day, was very tight with neither side able to break through.
Marcus Hall had a fine game with Ben Turner solid whilst Jordan Clarke also impressed.
Robbie Simpson had City's only shot in the first half when he got to an Ashley Cain cross and turned to rifle over a shot.
All Andy Marshall had to do was catch a Levi Porter effort five minutes before the break.
With Leon Best and Danny Fox watching amongst the onlookers, which had inluded a chap who had to leave when a female stormed into the complex, round the pitch and set about him,City started well in the second half.
Simpson tried his luck with a 52nd minute, twenty five yarder before a corner and then Kevin Kyle rose to meet a Cain cross and headed at Carl Pentney.
Kyle's lay off work had been off a good standard with some nice touches and it was the Scot who scored the only goal of the game in the 57th minute.
Gary Borrowdale raced through to win the first of two corners. Kevin Thornton send his second kick deep to the far post and Kyle rose to head into the net.
Leicester, who also now only play friendlies, came back at City and in the 59th minute, Andy Marshall used his chest to superbly deny Johnathan Hayes and push the ball onto Billy McKay and out for a goal kick.
Five minutes later and the City keeper got down to stop Lee Cox but could not prevent the loose ball falling to Levi Porter who clattered the cross bar before Hall cleared for a corner.
Jordan Clarke was forced off in the 68th minute after taking a heavy whack to the groin and the home side threatened with two corners.
City boss Frankie Bunn also had Ben Turner limp off five minutes from time after another heavy tackle and then brought on Matty West for Ashley Cain.
Late on City had chances to increase their margin of victory. West had a good chance when he drove into the side netting from a Simpson cross in the 87th minute.
The former Cambridge United striker then pounced on a long kick from Marshall and Kevin Kyle using his back to push the ball into his path before firing over.
