Coventry City U18's put in a great performance to beat Charlton 3-0
On a cloudy morning at the Alan Higgs Centre, Greg Rioch's team, which had won 3-0 at Ipswich last Saturday, started brightly taking the game to a South East London side that included the son of Gus Poyet.
Jonson Clarke-Harris headed wide and then had a 7th minute shot deflected for a corner which Joe Henderson headed at the visiting keeper.
Lee Burge produced a terrific save diving to his left to push away a Tosan Popo run and shot.
Both sides played some good football with City passing the ball well to the front pairing of Daniels and Clarke-Harris.
Popo had a shot blocked before City went up the other end and Clarke-Harris suffered the same agony.
On the stroke of half-time, Billy Daniels had a shot on the turn which deflected for a corner.
Ten minutes into the second half, the ball was pumped forwards. It hit Will Roberts on the heel and landed in the path of Jonson Clarke Harris who kept his cool to open the scoring.
In the 61st minute, it was 2-0 when Joe Henderson rose at the far post to head a free kick into the bottom corner of the net.
Luke Bottomer, Roberts, Birgirimana, Phillips, Ruffles all worked extremely hard in what was a very good performance and in the 79th minute, Clarke- Harris got to the byline and pulled it back for Josh Ruffles to score from 16 yards and wrap up a great win.
