Coventry City U18's could not recover from a first half mauling and went down to a heavy defeat against Leicester City.

Things started well for Greg Rioch's side when Shaun Jeffers dispossed the keeper and drove home from an acute angle with just over ninety seconds gone.

Leicester's side which consisted mainly of second year players were organised and started tro control the game.

They equalised in the ninth minute through a Stephen Howles chip and allowed Craig Lang to head home unmarked from a 24th minute corner.

Out muscled and out played, the Sky Blues found themselves 4-1 down before the interval.

In the 28th minute, Craig Lang raced through to score and ten minutes later,a Luke O'Neill drive was deflected into the net by young left back Jamie Greenway.

City needed an early goal in the second half. Dean Marshall was sent on to aid the attack. Nothing came,so Rioch sent Jermaine Grandison up front wih Liam Robinson coming on at right back.

Grandison just missed getting on the end of a 78th minute Ashley Cain cross. Adam Walker sent a free kick over and Grandison fired over after rounding the keeper but it was all too little too late.
