Coventry City U21's were beaten 3-1 at home by Leicester City.

There was less than fifty people including a number of scouts on a sunny but cold lunchtime at the Ricoh Arena, which City U21's have to play at twice under league rules.

They saw the PDL 2 North leaders straight on the attack with a second minute free kick which Connor Clifford fired straight at Chris Dunn, who then got in a tangle with Jordan Willis in the visitors next attack.

George Taft headed wide from a throw in. City, with Richie Stevens and Greg Rioch taking the team, went up the other end and Shaun Jeffers headed over at the North Stand end.

Leicester were straight back and Futacs played in former Leamington player Jakob Blythe who slipped the ball past Dunn for the opening goal.

Just over a minute later and Steve Beaglehole's side were awarded a penalty for a shove on Taft. Marko Futacs stepped up and scored.

In the 25th minute, Callum Wilson shrugged off a defender and cleverly backheeled the ball to the incoming Danny Philliskirk who slipped the ball under Logan to reduce the arrears.

A spell of both sides either playing the offside trap or giving away niggly fouls ensued.

Joe Henderson made a good block in the 35th minute to concede a corner.

There were rare glimpses of some excellent stuff from the Sky Blues and in the 41st minute, a great move saw Shaun Jeffers directing a flick header inches wide of Logan's right hand post.

John Fleck continued the second half as he had started the first, playing some good balls to try and get the Sky Blues going forward.

In the 53rd minute, Tom Hopper, one of Leicester's promising youngsters and a player City's Academy had tried to acquire on a number of occasions, flicked just past the far post under pressure from the hard working Jordan Willis and Chris Dunn.

On the hour mark, Callum Wilson displayed a lovely bit of pace to get past two defenders and rifle in a shot which Logan blocked with his legs.

Shaun Jeffers immediately went close before Steve Beaglehole made the first change of the afternoon when he brought in Harry Panayiotou, who has tormented City U18 defences in the past.

Tom Hopper had a shot blocked in the 69th minute for a corner. It was cleared and City got a free kick on the edge of the area at the away end.

Kevin Malaga came on. The free kick was cleared but straight after in came Shaun Jeffers with a thunderous shot which Logan brilliantly saved.

With fifteen minutes left, Malaga made a good clearance from Hopper to concede a corner that Taft headed wide. Three minutes later and Topper fired wide from a Panayiotou cross from the right.

Leicester attacked again and Jeffers had to head away for a corner before he and Danny Philliskirk were replaced.

With seven minutes left, McCourt played in Jakob Blyth, who smashed past Dunn from seven yards to give Leicester a third goal.

Kevin Malaga had a goal ruled out in the 85th minute when he headed in following a free kick for a Sesay foul and Callum Wilson, who had a fine game, sent a header from a Bell cross on to the cross bar but the Sky Blues were a beaten side.
