Coventry City U21's were beaten 3-0 by AFC Bournemouth in a behind closed doors friendly at Ryton.

Fielding Mathieu Manset and a trialist in a preparation game for the PDL League 2 North season which starts next week, Jack Finch went close in the 16th minute with a header before the Cherries took the lead in the 22nd minute, with an own goal following a goalmouth scramble.

It was two, minutes later when Jordan Chiedozie got in to slip the ball past Lee Burge in the City goal.

Lewis Rankin had a 32nd minute effort from a Manset pass cleared off the line, as City, watched by Steven Pressley tried to get back into the match but in the 35th minute, Bournemouth went three goals up after Jordan Chiedozie got to a loose ball and finished past Burge.

City had seen enough of the trailist and he was replaced along with Rankin early in the second half by the City supporting Ivor Lawton and striker Ben Maund, who had been in the Sky Blues pre-season tour of Holland and Germany. Defender Tarik Azille-Moore was also a substitute in a better second half for City who face Sheffield Wednesday away and Crewe at home next week.

City: Burge (GK), Willis, Finch (Azille-Moore), Haynes, Phillips, Garner, Barton, Rankin (Lawton), Lobjoit, Manset, Trialist (Maund). Subs Gott (GK), Azille-Moore, Lawton, Maund.
