A goal from George Thomas earned Coventry City U21's a 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.
At a very cold Hillsborough, City fielded a strong side which was changed at last minute when Ruben Lameiras was replaced by Ben Stevenson in the starting line up. In that team was Arron Martin, Gael Bigirimana, Jack Finch and Kyle Spence, who has re-signed for the rest of the season.
City won a corner in the fourth minute but should have been a goal down in the sixth when Jon Centeno lobbed Konrad Skuza.
The City keeper who picked up a knock, saved well from Centeno before Stevenson glanced a flick header wide in the tenth minute.
Stevenson drove over from twenty yards which led to Wednesday winning a corner at the other end in front of a crowd of 55.
With Lee Glover shouting his instructions from behind us in the main stand. Aaron Phillips headed on the bar in the eighteenth minute from a Bigirimana cross.
Both keepers had catches to make as Phillips was fouled on the edge of the area in the 23rd minute. Cameron Dawson dived high to his left to save Bigirimana's free kick
The Owls won a corner on the half hour mark and then a free kick to give Skuza more catching practice.
City had a corner of their own three minutes later which had to be scrambled away. The Sky Blues in red attacked again and this time, Dawson saved from a George Thomas header.
Wednesday, attacking the Leppings Lane end won a corner in the 39th minute. Devon Kelly Evans cleared upfield and won a free kick which he ended up firing into the Kop stand from.
In the 44th minute, Wednesday took the lead when an effort was not cleared and Keenan King rammed home the loose ball.
Ruben Lamerias came on for the second half for a City side which had early chances through Thomas and Devon Kelly-Evans.
Meadows headed over from a 58th minute corner.
On the hour mark, Wednesday were given a penalty when the referee bought Croasdale's fall on the left.Jack Stobbs took the penalty kick but put it into the Kop stand instead of the goal.
Boosted by that let off, City attacked and Ruben Lameiras was able to pick out George Thomas who stabbed the ball home from close range.
Wednesday, who are bottom of the league had a couple of chances and a 72nd minute free kick which Will De Haviland headed over from, when really he should have scored.
Into the last fifteen minutes and City had plenty of pressure and had a Kyle Spence shot pushed onto the bar by Dawson in a game they nearly lost at the end with two late Wednesday chances.
