Coventry City U23's were beaten 2-0 at the Ricoh Arena by Charlton Athletic this afternoon.
In a re-arranged fixture, Jason Farndon, who was well wrapped up against the elements on a bitterly cold afternoon, only able to field a young side plus Chris Camwell. Callum Maycock and trialist Chris Paul for this game.
As a snow shower came down, it was Tom Bilson in the City goal who was a busy man, after the Sky Blues had had a Stedham shot, a corner won by Camwell and Chris Paul volleying wide after twenty minutes.
Bilson made a good save in the 22nd minute, one eight minutes later and one in the 32nd minute before grabbing a 39th minute free kick, against a City side which had Jack Burroughs fire not far wide a minute before the break.
Three minutes into the second half and Paul lost the ball which ended up being blocked by Bilson before the visitors attacked again and got in a shot which struck Bilson's left hand post in the 53rd minute, rolled along the goal line and was cleared by Jack Hickman who worked hard all game for the Sky Blues.
In the 57th minute, a mistake allowed Charlton to attack down the right and get the ball over for substitute Regan Charles-Cook,brother of the former City keeper to tap into an empty net.
Substitute Costelus Lautaru looked lively up front for City and he had the ball in the net in the 78th minute but the assistant on the main stand side had long had his flag up and the goal was chalked off.
Kyle Finn and Billy Stedman had efforts on goal for City but in the first minute of stoppage time added on by referee Amy Fearn, a mistake let in substitute Tarriq Anderson who scored easily to send City to a 2-0 defeat.
