Coventry City drew 1-1 with Millwall this afternoon at the Alan Higgs Centre on a freezing afternoon.
Jason Farndon was able to name fit again Jordan Ponticelli in a match which had been put back due to City’s FA Youth Cup tie at Cogenhoe United and It was Ponticelli along with Dexter Walters who were the main threat for the Sky Blues early on.
Against a Lions side which has struggling for results of late, City took the lead in the 32nd minute when Jordan Ponticelli raced through and slipped the ball past Ryan Sandford into the bottom corner of the net.
City looked solid but in the 44th minute, Lewis Green tried to find Corey Addai with a back pass, missed him completely and sent the ball into an empty net and it was 1-1.
With Ponticelli off at the break, Jonny Ngandu who had a fine game had chances as did Billy Stedman in the second half which came to life when substitute Reuben Duncan, who had been on the pitch for less than three minute, was sent off by a referee who struggled at times, for flooring Sam McCallum who had to be replaced.
Walters had a good chance late on but it was a 1-1 draw for City U23’s who face Watford on Friday afternoon at Wingate & Finchley FC.
