Coventry City Academy boss Greg Rioch has said that the 25th anniversary of City winning the FA Youth Cup will spur the players on tonight when they face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park at 7pm.
This season is the 25th anniversary of City winning the FA Youth Cup when they beat Charlton Athletic over two legs, before the first team went on to win the FA Cup and speaking about this, Rioch, himself an FA Youth Cup winner with Millwall, said: "It was a great year in the club's history, winning both the FA Cup and the Youth Cup, and the players are aware of this.
"We hope to be able to make this into a bit of motivation for the up and coming fixture. It would be great if we could try and progress in the competition.
"See if we can get anywhere close to what that side did all those years ago, it would be fantastic. It would be great for the supporters and everyone around Coventry, and maybe what the club needs at the moment.
"Especially with our league form and the success we are having, it would be great to if we could come away with something this year to put a few smiles on a few faces."
