A 2-0 win over Charlton sees Sheffield Wednesday in third with 33 points, one more than Leeds United who beat Brentford 2-1 and Birmingham City who beat Ipswich Town, whom the Sky Blues travel to on Monday night, 2-0 at St Andrews.
Sheffield United are sixth with Crewe who lost 3-2 at home to QPR in seventh and eleven points clear of Coventry City.
Crystal Palace lead the League 2 South on goal difference from Swansea City. They both have forty points, one more than QPR and three more than Cardiff City.
