Coventry City U23's remain unbeaten after a late, late 4-3 win against Leeds United this afternoon.

On a warm afternoon, Leeds fielding a strong side, started the game,  straight on the attack with two corners.

However, in the fifth minute, Jak Hickman attacked down the right and sent over a ball which Paudie O'Connor turned into his own net.

Ponticelli and Thomas had chances before Corey Addai pushed away a 13th minute free kick for a corner.

Addai made another good save from Gomes but in the 19th minute, Leeds were level when Dzhoshkevn Temenuzhkov fired home.

Chris Camwell had a shot pushed for a corner on the half hour mark and ten minutes later, City were back in front when Kwame Thomas headed home from a left wing cross

Chris Camwell was replaced by Darragh Leahy at the break for a City side which had Callum Maycock, who was in excellent form, clear off the line, only for Leeds to attack again and Jamie Shackleton equalised with a low drive into the bottom of the net.

On the hour mark and City were back in front when a cross from the left was headed down by Kwame Thomas and the ball went into the net off Chris Owens.

Leeds levelled for a third time when full back Bryce Hosannah got down the right and thumped a shot Into the net in the 69th minute of a game which could go either way.

Jordan Ponticelli rounded the keeper and fired towards the empty net in the 77th minute but somehow, the keeper got back and cleared.

Leeds had two efforts go close and had a deflected shot go for an 80th minute corner.

With less than nine minutes left, Kwame Thomas went down in a heap. The Leeds players rushed over and called for medical assistance.

Ambulance staff were close at hand and it was a good few minutes before Thomas got to his feet and was replaced by Bilal Sayoud.

Both sides had more chances before there was another clash of heads which further delayed the game.

Leeds had two more corners and forced Addai into a save before getting through with a player went looking for a penalty which was not given by the referee who cautioned the astounded miscreant.

That let-off boosted City who went straight down the other end and Jordan Ponticelli rifled home to give the Sky Blues a 4-3 win.
