Coventry City U18's were forced to take a point from their game against Barnsley after conceding a late penalty.‎

On a sunny morning at the Alan Higgs, City took on Barnsley with Jason Farndon able to field a strong side.

With Marcus Hall, Steve Ogrizovic and Darren Murray watching on, City keeper Jake Richards was involved early saving with his feet.

Both sides had corners early on before Jordan Shipley headed over in the 23rd minute and Matty Templeton drove wide at the other end.

On the half hour mark, City pressed and Ben Stevenson got the ball on the edge of the area and fired home with a low drive to give the Sky Blues, who had been playing the ball round well, the lead.

A 48th minute foul on George Thomas led to a free kick. Devon Kelly-Evans curled it round the wall but Walton dived to his right to make a fine save.‎

The visiting keeper made another good save in the 62nd minute from a free kick after Jay Albini had been brought on, with the highly capable Cian Harries shot follow up shot cleared a yard off the line.

With George Thomas replaced, Barnsley's Mason Holgate fluffed a great chance firing wide in front of goal as Ben Stevenson, who had a fine game tried to get a second goal for City.

‎Albini had a 78th minute shot saved by Walton who flapped at a corner a minute later.

Six minutes later, the young Tykes won three corners in a row. The referee had pulled up Cian Harries to talk to him about some pushing and when the flag kick came in down went Templeton and a penalty was awarded. Templeton got up and sent Richards the wrong way with his 87th minute spot kick and Barnsley had taken a share of the spoils.‎
