Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray was impressed with City U21's who won 1-0 at Ipswich Town last night.

Speaking about the win to Andy Turner of the Coventry Telegraph, Mowbray, a former Ipswich Town player and coach, said: "It was a great performance and good occasion for a lot of our young players on a lovely pitch.

"It was the first time I had seen young James Maddison and the boy has got some talent to go with his confidence.

"But there were a lot of good performances. Conor Thomas, Blair Turgott, Cian Harries and I sat in the stands with Mick McCarthy talking about a lot of good young players.

"It was one of those sapping pitches and there's another game on Thursday so James will probably benefit playing another hour in the 21s against Charlton rather than ten minutes tomorrow night.

"Conor Thomas showed why he has done so well previously in the first team. Finch as well, he was powerful and strong and I came away heartened that the future is looking brighter than it might have done.

"They showed me they have technique and that they can play."
