Our Full Backs Were Excellent - Rioch

Coventry City U18's boss Greg Rioch was unhappy with the amount of free kicks and stoppages during the Sky Blues 1-0 home defeat to Reading on Saturday.

Speaking to the club website, Rioch "When you are working in development football you want to see the game flow and let the players play and grow and learn and I don't think the officiating on Saturday was conducive to that.

"A lot of the things that annoy you in football happened at the weekend like standing infront of the ball and a lot of time been used up not playing football and I thought the game could have done with a precedent being set early on to discourage the game taking that kind of route.

"That being said I thought our back four and goalkeeper were excellent, especially our full-backs Arron Phillips and Conor Gudger.

"They put a stop to Reading's wide play completely and it was especially impressive considering Reading fielded a winger who has already made his first team debut so to see Arron ensure he had such a quiet game was extremely pleasing for me to see."
